Do I learning English?

At first, talking about reasons for learning English is really confusing. It seems like somebody asks you about why you love your mother or why you love your father. When I love doing something, then I will do it with a pleasure. I do not need reasons to do something I like. That’s why some of us know this quote “Love what you do, do what you love.”

However, if I need to tell everybody about what actually makes me want to learn English, then I will start it from the first time I realized that learning English is not difficult but fun and challenging. It happened when I was still studying at Junior High School. At the moment, I had a very little thing to say in English, some of them were about how to introduce myself,

and all the vocabulary I learned in Elementary School. The problem is I did not know how to make a good sentence and how to pronounce it well. I was too afraid of making mistakes, and the worst was I had no confidence.

Then, my English teacher came to the class for the first time, introduced himself, advised us about many things, and finally taught us. He also invited us to come to his house to learn English. I could not remember what he had given to me and my classmates, but all I knew at the time was I really enjoyed his class.

 I turned from someone who had no passion in English into someone who was really interested in English. That’s all about the most impressive moment about my experience in learning English because after that I kept learning English until I decided to continue my undergraduate study in English Department, UNJ.

I used to think that learning English is not important. Now, I realize that Learning English will not only help me, my carrier in the future, but also for my country. Firstly, most information are written in English, so that, learning English helps me find out the information and also understand all of them easier. Besides, it helps me speak with the other people all over the world easier.

Secondly, about my carrier, nowadays looking for a job is very difficult. Most companies require every applicant to be eclectic, to have many skills, and especially to be able to speak English. For me as the students of English Education who has a possibility to be an English Teacher or Lecturer, I am pressed for not only be able to speak English but also be able to teach English well. Therefore, I need to know more to be able to teach more.

Finally, about my country, for me learning English will help me contribute to my country especially in the field of education. It is supported by the awareness of the importance of learning English is tended to increase year by year. English has positive contribution for me and for my country. Therefore, nothing can stop me learning English.
